Think of it as the literary equivalent of sitting at the bar and chatting nonchalantly with an old friend, or musing on the nature of human experience on the dunes overlooking a beach on a summer evening.
Or you could just view it as somebody talking absolute bollocks, but amusing and occasionally insightful bollocks.
